Chairperson Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA), Dr Rubinder Kaur inaugurated Diwali Mela at Police Pariwar Petrol Pump at Gandhi Nagar here today. Director General of Police J&K Shri Dilbag Singh also paid a visit to the venue and went to different stalls. He interacted with the PWWA members.
Police welfare centres of Jammu, Srinagar, Kathua and police departmental store, Jammu, and Prisons Department have put up their stalls of different items being produced at the police welfare centres, which includes candles and dry fruits.
The mela had been organised in view of the forthcoming Diwali festival. The aim of the mela was to showcase the items produced by the police welfare centres for sale. The police welfare centres are producing items such as hand-made products and are put on sale to generate resources for the welfare of families of police martyrs. Maj General Sharad Kapur, GOC, 26 Infantry Division, IGP, Jammu, Mukesh Singh and IGP Armed Jammu, Danesh Rana, were present on the occasion. Different decorative items were also showcased during the mela.
